In any case, his provocation, if it may be thus described -- or rather, his challenge -- may be placed substantially on a more demanding level that is, at the same time, more structural with regard to the materiality of the support: it lies, instead, at the very heart of a technical choice that has transmuted into a choice regarding artistic expression.
From the polymorphous, malleable and very solid nature of the material derives, in fact, the fervent encounter between space, ‘sign’ and, lastly, sculpture -- in other words, the possible presence of the relief that is an intrinsic part of painting, which Exclusive Art uses where, and only where, it can lend more enduring pregnancy to the whole, and he doesn’t hesitate to eliminate it when it appears to be just meant for effect.
